National Space Surveillance and Tracking Programme (S3T)

The National Space Surveillance and Tracking Programme (S3T) was created in response to the need in Europe for Space Situational Awareness to provide collision avoidance, re-entry prediction and fragmentation analysis services.

The civilian component of the programme is managed by the Centre for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI), while the military component is managed by the Ministry of Defence. In addition, the European Space Agency (ESA) is responsible for managing technical aspects and tenders associated with the programme.

National Satellite Earth Observation Programme

The National Programme for Earth Observation by Satellite (PNOTS) was created to establish a Spanish Earth observation system capable of producing high-resolution multispectral optical images and radar images under absolute darkness or adverse weather conditions.

The programme is funded by the Spanish Government and managed by the Centre for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI) of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, the National Institute for Aerospace Technology (INTA) and the General Directorate for Armaments and Material (DGAM) of the Ministry of Defence.
