The Spanish Space Agency aims to promote all space industry value chain elements, from the upstream design and development of satellites and spacecraft to downstream end-user services and applications, including the launcher and operations segments.
Accordingly, the Users, Services and Applications Division of the Agency is responsible for promoting and developing space applications for public and private users as well as developing the downstream sector of the space industry.
It is responsible for:
- Analysing, promoting, fostering and developing emerging technologies leading to new applications, such as STM, small launchers, orbital services, space tourism and mining.
- Coordinating with governmental and private users to promote the use of space applications in both domains.
- Coordinating with user groups and the industrial sector to identify the interests of all stakeholders in the sector and compiling public and private sector user requirements for future space applications.
- Promoting the dual use of space through programmes in various fields such as observation and communications.
- Facilitating the use of satellite services by public and private entities by developing applications in areas such as navigation and the operation and launch of national missions.
- Procuring space products and services to improve the development of its activity within the framework of public sector procurement legislation.
Facilitating national mission launches through cost-effective solutions.
